ADEKUNLE GOLD AND MIMI ONALAJA TO HOST THE FUTURE AWARDS AFRICA 2017
The Central Working Committee of The Future Awards Africa just announced award-winning singer/songwriter, Adekunle Gold and TV personality, Mimi Onalaja as the hosts of this year’s event.
Themed Nigeria’s New Tribe, the Awards will acknowledge inspiring young Nigerians aged 18-31 making a difference through social enterprise, social good, and creativity.
With 105 nominees selected over categories including Music, Beauty, Fashion & Design, Professional Service, Sports and more, 21 winners will be announced at the event, including the highly-coveted ‘Young Person of the Year’.
The 12th edition of The Future Awards Africa is set to hold on 9 December, 2017 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
DANGOTE FEATURES ON NASDAQ TOWER, NEW YORK
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, was on Wednesday featured on NASDAQ tower in Times Square, New York as one of the 50 most influential people.
As the only African on the Bloomberg 50 list of this year’s most influential people, a photo of Dangote was displayed on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square, New York after he was selected to make the list.
The NASDAQ Tower is considered the most visible LED video display in Times Square and is one of the most valuable advertising spaces in the world.
It’s the largest continuous sign in Times Square. It has close to 9,000 square feet of display space — about a quarter of an acre.
LG LAUNCHES PHONE THAT IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN Iphone-X
LG has taken Apple’s unflattering title of most expensive smartphone following the announcement of the Signature Edition.
The limited edition “super premium” phone will hit shelves in South Korea and only 300 units will be made. The phone will sell for 2 million South Korean won (£1,370), exceeding the most expensive iPhone X by more than £200.
The Signature Edition will be almost identical to the V30, LG’s mainstream flagship smartphone. It comes with 6Gb of RAM, 256Gb of memory, a 6-inch OLED display and a 3300 mAh battery.
It also launches standard with Android 8.0 Oreo. It will be made from the same materials used in boutique watches (the main factor separating it from the V30).
In comparison, the LG V30 sells for £799 for the 64Gb model at Carphone Warehouse.
LG has long used the “Signature” branding to sell premium devices such as home appliances and TVs. The company’s 4K Wallpaper OLED TVs are perhaps one of the most notable consumer tech products on the planet right now. Thinner than a pencil, the Wallpaper TV houses most of its components in a sound bar.
Not to be outdone, dedicated Apple fans can still raise the price of their iPhone X to around the same mark of the Signature Edition phone if they include the £199 AppleCare+. The extended warranty and insurance will cover owners from two incidents of accidental damage.
Anyone game enough to skip the coverage will face paying £286.44 to replace a broken screen or £556.44 for any other damage (which usually requires a full replacement).
OnePlus recently announced its new 5T flagship smartphone, which retails for £449 – more than £100 cheaper than repairing an iPhone X.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has asked students to go home until January, 2018 as a result of the ongoing strike embarked on by Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).
Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement said the Senate of the institution, at its emergency meeting held on Tuesday, approved that the students should proceed on an “End of the Year” break with immediate effect.
The statement reads: “As a result of the unpalatable occurrences occasioned by the strike action of the Obafemi Awolowo University branch of the Non – Teaching Staff, which comprises Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), the Senate of the University, at its emergency meeting held today, Tuesday, 5th December, 2017, has approved that the Students of the University should proceed on an “End of the Year” break with immediate effect.
“Students have until 4:00pm today (Wednesday, December 6, 2017) to leave the hostels.
“Parents /guardians are urged to monitor their wards to ensure compliance with the university’s directive.
“The university will resume January 2, 2018.

WHY I FAINTED DURING NIGERIA Vs ARGENTINA GAME – SERGIO AGUERO REVEALS
Argentina and Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, has spoken for the first time after he reportedly fainted during Nigeria Vs Argentina match which Argentina surprisingly lost 4-2 to Nigeria in an international friendly in Krasnodar on November 14, 2017.
Aguero did not come out for the second half of the friendly match as he suddenly developed illness and was rushed to the hospital for routine examination during the intermission. Before his unplanned substitution at half-time, the South Americans were leading 2-1 with the forward registering his name on the score-sheet in the 36th minute.
The striker told Lbero;
”The second half against Nigeria I could not see, because I was in the Hospital, but when they told me how it panned out, I asked, ‘what happened?”

Reacting to the World Cup draw where La Albiceleste will again face Super Eagles, Aguero said he was more concerned about Argentina’s first two opponents in Group D, saying, ”The rivals are not bad, but let’s not say it’s very good for us, Iceland is one of the debutants, they do not play badly, they are a very organized team and they have (Gylfi) Sigurðsson.
”They are the first two games, they are the most important, they will not be easy.
”Croatia have a great midfield, they have Modric, Rakitic, you have Perisic who plays outside and he’s very fast, Croatia is a bit more complete.”

The driver, passersby, other road users were still in shock as a vehicle moving could suddenly go ablaze. To God be the glory that no life was lost in the inferno
