Apart from HIV/AIDS the (WHO) World Health Organization reported that Nigerians third biggest killer is a smoke from fire wood with about 95,000 deaths per annum

This is to say that women are mostly affected due to the fact that they are always in the kitchen than men especially at the time of cooking.

Annoying things Nigerians do when they travel abroad

The last thing any Nigerian who travels abroad wants to do is look or be different. Nigerians generally put in the effort to blend in or endear themselves to the locals in whatever location they find themselves. However, it is amazing to know that despite their intention, certain actions still mark them out, not necessarily in a negative way, but certainly in a unique form.
Traveling out of Nigeria to a foreign location? Before you jump on that plane to head anywhere outside the country take a look at this list of four annoying things Nigerians do abroad.

  1. ONLY EATING FOODS THEY ARE USED TO.
  2. THE USE OF NAIJA SLANGS.
  3. BUTCHER THE FOREIGN ACCENT.
  4. SHOP FOR AFRICA.
ONLY EATING FOODS THEY ARE USED TO.

You would think that a visitor to a new location would explore its parameters, savoring its gastronomies…that is not the usual case with tourist Nigerians. Several African and Nigerian restaurants are booming in foreign countries not necessarily because of the number of the people in diaspora who patronize but for a large number of tourists who visit for local meals. Nigerians prefer to stick to their own food, and in situations where there are no local restaurants or foods around, they usually stick to staples like bread or rice.

THE USE OF NAIJA SLANGS.
Nigerians are very proud of their local language and even more of the colloquial language prevalent in the nation. Most Nigerians abroad adopt these slangs in their normal English and use them while referring to all kinds of people, even those who have no clue of what it could mean. Do not be surprised to find a Nigerian in Beijing using such slangs as “Abeg”, “Shebi”,while communicating with a local in the city.

BUTCHER THE FOREIGN ACCENT.

Nigerians tend to believe that they can pull off any accent or speak any language if they try. They are usually empaths when it comes to speaking. In most cases, they mimic the accent of whoever they talk to. A reoccurring instance is a Nigerian faking an American accent on the first trip to the US. The thing, however, is that while they struggle to adopt the new accent, they ruin it and end up not communicating properly to the local, or sometimes even irritating whoever they are talking to.

SHOP FOR AFRICA.
It is no secret. Nigerians are the one with the heaviest carry-ons and the largest number of shopping bags. While some might not be shopaholics and rarely shop while in Nigeria, it is a different story when they travel, they shop till they drop as they most times mentally convert the cost of the purchase and keep buying because they feel it is much cheaper.
RipplesNigeria ….without borders, without fears.

BUHARI BEGS MILITANT AS TOMPOLO DENIES THEM

President Muhammadu Buhari has again called on the people of Niger Delta to stop destruction of oil and gas facilities in the region. This is even as wanted ex- militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo , aka Tompolo , has again distanced himself from such attacks .
According to the president, the renewed attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in the region only serves the ecosystem and economy of the country. It would be recalled that Niger Delta militants have renewed attacks in the region after declaring a unilateral ceasefire to allow for dialogue which the Federal Government proposed .
The ceasefire however collapsed after the November 1 meeting President Buhari had with leaders and elders of the region led by a former Federal Commissioner of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, over allegations that demands presented at the meeting did not adequately address their demands .
The presidency had earlier begged the militants to stop the attacks in an interview granted by President Buhari ’s media aide , Garba Shehu .
President Buhari made the appeal at the 20 th anniversary of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company ’s Green River Farmers’ Day in Yenagoa , the Bayelsa State capital at the weekend .
He was represented by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development , Senator Heineken Lokpobiri .

Buhari said : “ I appeal to the people of the Niger Delta region to embrace peace and focus on agriculture for sustainable economic development and wealth creation.
“ I urge you to take advantage of the huge potential in agriculture and stop the destruction of oil and gas pipelines , which only serve to destroy our ecosystem and economy .
“ The present administration is committed to doing everything possible to support the people of the Niger Delta to achieve their potential in agriculture , which is far more than its endowments in oil and gas .”
In the same vein , Tompolo , who has touted severally as the masquerade behind the renewed attacks in the Niger Delta, has again denied the allegation, saying he has no link with the militants .
The Niger Delta Avengers have been specifically linked to Tompolo , while some of the demands earlier made by the NDA , were favourable to the ex- militant leader , who has been evading arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC , and other security agencies to appear in court over allegations of fraud running into billions of naira in his dealings with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency , NIMASA.
Tompolo , in a statement by his media consultant , Mr . Paul Bebenimibo , on Sunday , insisted that he did not send any group of persons to attack oil installations because of his case with the EFCC. He also vowed to pursue his case with the EFCC to a logical conclusion without resorting to violence .
